Friends, Romans, Courtyardmen, Lend me your ears... "Hmmmm...where do I begin? How about in Birmingham England, and the first of many debuts. I clearly remember thinking, 'Oops, wrong planet!' I developed this leathery little voice serenading the neighbors.
Cut to Montreal, Canada ~ 10 years later
Horray for modern science! My brother Daniel
and I discover FM rock radio. Turn it up! LOUDER!!
Radio was great in the 70's-guitar heroes, rock gods,
radio stars, the greatest friends in the world-Bowie,
The Stones, Van Morrison, The Beatles, Rod Stewart,
The Faces, Ike and Tina, Issac Hayes, Cat Stevens,
Curtis Mayfield, Howlin' Wolf, The Band, The Allman
Bros, Taj Mahal, Rufus and Chaka Khan, The Staple
Singers, AC/DC, Clapton, Hendrix, Bonnie Raitt, Bad
Company, Little Feat, Lynard Skynard, Aerosmith, The
Eagles, CSNY, BTO, Nick Drake, Bob Marley, Lennon,
Paul McCartney & Wings, Robert Palmer, ABBA,
Canned Heat, Savoy Brown, The Byrds etc.
I'm inspired, it's so obvious. Dump everything: find a
band and go for it!
I went through many stages
It's called on-the-job training.
The poster says Sweet Thunder.
Sweet Blunder is more like it!
In our heads we were bitchin',
leaping up the stairs to stardom.

Next is a stunning little band
which was named after a
favorite Bowie album. We called ourselves The Pinups-
also known as the Fuckups, The screwups-but never the Suckups! So I'm swingin' a mean bass, singing lead and yelling crude things (who me?) at the audience and I remember thinking, 'Ya know, Sass, this is perfect.

Remember New Wave? In many bars in Eastern Canada, that was us. Thank you Blondie, Cheap Trick, Elvis Costello and My My My My Sharona.

Cut to the 80's

Sass is heading for her 20's. As I see it, there's one way to avoid adulthood: go solo. I have a very modest goal: I'm going to write a few songs, make a little record and...you know the rest. Fortunately, I have a few things in my favor. 1.) A lot of people that want to help me, 2) Nobody is tougher on me than I am, and 3) I'm good at starting all over. I have a small, patient Canadian label called Aquarius Records.

The first album, Tell Somebody, comes out in 1988 and within a matter of months, all kinds of people are asking me for autographs. I have a band, a bunch of videos,a platinum album, and a juno Award.

Cut to the 90's

A new decade, a new market, a new album. I'm in L.A. signed to Impact Records. The new album is called Racine. It's the name of a town where I grew up. It's also the French word for "an itchy rash." (just kidding, it means roots.)

It's due for release in March 92' and features songs like "If You're Gonna Leave Me" (complete with a four on the floor beat; "Make You A Believer," (a rock 'n" roll porch stomper that talks about eating peanuts at the movies); 'I Want To Believe" (Oliver Twist is back with a vengeance); and 'You Don't Have To Remind Me," a tragic tale in the key of D (and besides it's Tommy's favorite tune!) It's produced by Rick Neigher, who co-wrote a lot of the songs with me and is an all-around great guy. The musicians are an assorted motley crew of my co-writers and damn good players.

So there you have it: you ask for a bio and you get an autobio.
Someday we'll meet and I'll tell you the real story.

Until then, I'll be in Cell Block G...     signiture.jpg (3176 bytes)
